Harry Potter EXPLODING BonBons

These EXPLODING BonBons were purchased at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.  As far as I know, you can’t get them anywhere else.  On the outside of the packaging, these are simply labeled “EXPLODING BONBONS” and “Orange and Pineapple Flavoured Bonbons” down at the bottom.  The package comes with 10 bonbons wrapped in orange foil in a triangular shaped package.

These Bonbons are made of a Palm kernel based white chocolate with an orange and pineapple “exploding” candy inside.  When I took my first bite, I immediately began to notice the familiar POP and CRACKLE of Pop Rocks.  The same candy that give Pop Rocks it’s name has been put into these white chocolate bonbons.  The actual orange and pineapple flavored candy tastes like your typical fake citrus flavoring, but if you let it sit on your tongue for a minute, you can begin to taste the pineapple flavoring.  It’s kind of like a Pina Colada tropical Starburst.

Overall, this candy was pretty good.  For $9.95, they could’ve stood to use a higher quality white chocolate, but you don’t really buy these particular bonbons for the chocolate, but rather the candy that’s inside them.  The exploding candy was quite tasty and definitely crackles and pops in your mouth.  Not quite the same explosion and puff of smoke we’ve all seen in the movies, but if you manage to make it out to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, stop by one of the shops and try these out!
